Head of Computational Biology
As a Head of Computational Biology at NextRNA Therapeutics, you will join an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals whose mission is to bring a new class of small molecule medicines to patient in need. You will have a key role in identifying, validating and drug novel long non-coding RNA targets. You will be a key team member responsible for utilizing NextMAP™, NextRNA’s proprietary computation engine that identifies driving disease lncRNAs. In collaboration with the biology and drug discovery team, you will provide translation guidance for the mechanism of action and patient stratification for the lead programs. As a member of the leadership team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the company’s overall strategy.

What you’ll do:
- Develop and lead CompBio strategy, participate and present if needed to Science Board meeting and contribute to partnerships diligence.
- Manage team members to ensure coordination and alignment of roles and responsibilities within projects.
- Coordinate and Review the CompBio team’s data-driven deliverables that contribute to stage-gate decision for portfolio programs.
- Manage/oversee pipeline development focused on multi-omics, isoform detection/discovery, and SHAPEMaP with data from patient and cell lines.
- Initiate and lead cross-functional translational science strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate interfaces across Research & Development Oncology/Neurology, Data Management/Science, and IT functions.
Key Qualifications:
- PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field.
- 15 years post PhD experience with minimum 10 years of industry including 5 years in managerial position.
- Previous experience in managing and leading computational biology teams to support drug discovery stage from target discovery to IND filling is required
- Knowledge on RNA biology is required (gene regulation at isoform level)
- Experience in working on oncology and/or neuroscience is a plus
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and learning agility, highly self-motivated, with an aspiration of continuous improvement of oneself and others
- Effective influencer, communicator, and team player with proven networking skills, both internally and externally
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure is required
This position requires someone onsite 5 days per week at our Boston location.
